To be part of this transformative experience you will have to make an initial investment of ₩1,000,000 and pay a future success fee of ₩4,000,000 ONLY IF you land your next internship (finance & consulting) in the next 12 months
The validity period is 12 months because some of you will go back to school but we will shorten the timeline to 6 months if you are taking a gap period to focus solely on recruiting. For your reference, this is 1/3 of the time it took YR to land his first finance internship (18 months) without any experience
This is our way of saying “you will get your next internship in just couple months after this program.” We are so confident in this experience that we are foregoing the success fee if it doesn’t happen within the validity period
The future success fee will likely be 66% or less of your next internship income. We designed this to be a fully self-sufficient program where you don’t have to ask your parents for money

My story: From 100 rejections to CLSA EQUITY ANALYST
FROM CLUELESS STUDENT
Like you, I was once a university student desperate to break into finance. Despite my best efforts, I faced rejection after rejection because I lacked the one thing everyone demanded: experience.
After my 100th rejection, I realized I needed to take a different approach. Through persistence and some fortunate connections, I eventually landed a research internship at CLSA Korea.

CLSA has trusted YR as the lead analyst - with your name as co-author - to produce a report that will be available on the CLSA website and distributed to their CLSA’s global institutional investor client base
This means:
1️⃣ YR can only work with high caliber students who he can train and trust to produce institutional-grade research report. This is why there is an application process
2️⃣ Your work will directly reflect on YR’s professional reputation as the lead analyst
3️⃣ You will have to come into the office daily (9am to 6pm) to work with YR and other RAs to ensure high quality research and production
4️⃣ There is a deadline for the report (early July) which means YR can only work with a small group (max 3 people) to train them into a functioning Research Associate (RA)

How does the Equity Research Training Program Work?
Over 3 intensive months you will:
Research: Dive deep into how AI will impact jobs, researching industry developments and testing various AI tools to understand their potential
Create: Develop a professional equity research report that meets institutional standards
Publish: Work with Head of CLSA X and the CLSA publication team to publish your report with your name as co-author
Present: Participate in two global calls with institutional investors, with top performers having the opportunity to present directly (exact investors and date TBD)
Prepare: Perfect your applications and interview skills for your future internships after the report has been sent to CLSA

There is a program fee to be part of this transformative experience

This covers your participation in the 3-month program.

This program is specifically designed for students with no prior finance experience. Your willingness to learn is more important than prior knowledge

There are 3 differences
This is real experience, not just training: Unlike courses that focus on theory or simulations, you'll be producing work that's actually delivered to institutional investors with your name on it
Offline & interaction with institutional players: Those courses run their programs based on recorded online content whereas in YR School you get to work directly with YR receiving his mentorship daily in person and interacting with institutional players like CLSA and global investors
No technical skills in this program: This program is about writing real equity research report but on a thematic topic. We do not do any technical work. I am aware that those courses are mainly about teaching financial modelling and valuation

No you will not. We are writing a thematic report on AI’s impact on jobs. We won’t be doing stock analysis and developing financial models. Most of the work will be PowerPoint based and we may use excel to make necessary charts to visually present our arguments
However YR is willing to provide guidance and answer questions on technical skills if you decide to study on your own outside of program hours

Yes. This is a full-time program requiring daily in-office attendance in Seoul during business hours (9am-6pm, Monday-Friday) from 12 May to 8 Aug

YR used to work as an equity analyst at CLSA in Seoul and Hong Kong. That relationship allowed him to secure a research project through their CLSA U program where they commission external experts to write research content for them. This is why we are able to produce a research report that will be distributed to CLSA’s institutional investors

At the minimum, you need to have business fluency level of English. We will be researching global use cases of AI and writing the report in English. Presentation with global investors will also be in English. All of the application procedure will be done in English. However in the office we are expecting to use both English and Korean

We will be locking in on the office location before the program start. It will most likely be located near Itaewon station (이태원역 - 8호선)

Finance and consulting internships experience go hand-in-hand during finance recruiting. Interns in these industries do similar work (i.e. research, translation, making presentations and reports) and are considered extremely transferrable. Having a consulting experience on your resume will be very attractive during finance recruiting

Yes you can. Equity Research Training Program is open to anyone who is interested in developing a finance career. Having said that, please keep in mind that there is a financial commitment required to enroll in the program. If you are okay with that, please go ahead
